  • The Global Real Estate: Transaction Tools course provides students with the tools needed to present investment information to international clients—in their currency and area. Students will learn how to measure investment performance, prepare financial projections, and understand the effects of taxes and exchange rates on investment.

  • The Africa and International Real Estate course addresses real estate practices in Africa, emphasizing cultural influences, economic trends, and assessment of investment opportunities. You will learn about the geography, demographics, government, economy, and real estate sectors in 11 countries. You will be introduced to our newer bilateral partners in Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa. Because this is such a dynamic continent, you will be provided with resources to keep you updated with current economic and real estate trends. Finally, you will learn about the cultural norms that affect business practices in each country.

  • The Global Real Estate: Local Markets course is the prerequisite course for the CIPS Designation. Designation Requirements

  • If you reside in a country where NAR does not have a Cooperating Association, you must agree to abide by NAR's code of ethics and join the Cooperating Association if developed in the future.

Candace “Candy” Cooke is a passionate educator with a wealth of experience as a broker and appraiser with over thirty-five years in the real estate industry. Her transition to the field of education is driven by a deep desire to give back to the real estate industry. She brings a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a robust educational background to her role.

Candy's academic journey includes graduating from the graduate program at REALTOR® University with majors in Residential Real Estate Sales, Marketing, and Management and Real Estate Appraisal and Valuation Services. This comprehensive education equips her with a solid foundation in critical aspects of the real estate profession.

Candy also holds the esteemed position of Senior Instructor at the Texas Association of REALTORS®, where her exceptional teaching abilities shine. Candy's commitment to education has garnered recognition, including the 2012 Educator of the Year award from the state association and the prestigious title of Distinguished Educator of the Year by the Real Estate Business Institute. 

Currently, Candy Cooke holds the esteemed position of Past President at the Real Estate Business Institute (REBI), reflecting her commitment to advancing the industry through leadership and education. Pius Dawson | Europe & International Real Estate

Pius Dawson

Pius Dawson brings extensive knowledge in the Advertising, Marketing, and Customer Relations fields to his Real estate profession. A naturalized Citizen, born in London, UK, a German Linguist, and before becoming a licensed REALTOR®, Pius held various Consulting and Senior Executive positions with such well-known firms as Florida Capital, Saks Fifth Avenue, Giorgio's, and Ermenegildo Zegna. He has much experience in corporate housing and the short-term rental arena.

German-educated with a Bachelor of Arts in European Economics specializing in Import/Export, Pius is very active in the community belonging to such organizations as the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals® (NAHREP), Asociación Mexicana de Profesionales Inmobiliarios (AMPI), Women’s Council of REALTORS® (WCR), Asian Real Estate Association (AAREA), and Greater Houston Partnership. He was awarded the Ambassador of the Year in 2010 by the Northwest Houston Chamber of Commerce. And he is a member of the Houston Association of REALTORS® Global Advisory Group, chairman in 2019 and 2024.

Pius is also a graduate of the Texas REALTOR® Leadership Program (TRLP), past President of the Federation of International Real Estate (FIABCI)-USA Houston Council, current Global Liaison and Leadership Development Advisory Committee Member 2021 - 2024 for Texas REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Ambassador to Germany and Austria since 2020.

He also represents the Ambassador Associations to Austria and Germany, North Carolina, and Florida REALTORS® Associations on the global stage. As a member of AMPI (NAR equivalent association in México), Pius travels yearly to their Annual Conference.

Pius has been married to his lovely wife Jackie for 27 years and has three children and two grandchildren from a previous marriage.
His hobbies include traveling the world and riding his Harley Davidson Ultra Glide Trike with the tag "DAW5ON".

Ed Eakin | Global Real Estate: Local Markets, RSPS

Ed EakinEd Eakin, Jr. is a prominent figure in the real estate profession, recognized as the Broker/Owner of Eakin Group. His career began in 1988 as a homebuilder in Dallas, leading to two decades of constructing homes within the prestigious Dallas/Ft. Worth subdivisions. Transitioning from homebuilding, Ed ventured into real estate in 2007 while living in Playa del Carmen, marking the start of an illustrious international career. He won the 2022 “Global REALTOR® of the Year” award at Metrotex Association of REALTORS®.

With a rich educational background in real estate, Ed boasts a multitude of designations, including Certified International Property Specialist, Certified Residential Specialist, Accredited Buyer’s Representative, Accredited Luxury Home Specialist, and many more. These qualifications underscore his expertise in diverse real estate markets and commitment to excellence.

Ed's professional journey has taken him beyond Texas. Leveraging his international real estate experience, he assists clients in acquiring second homes across México, Costa Rica, Honduras, Belize, Ecuador, and the Caymans. His work with developers in notable regions like Riviera Maya, Cabo San Lucas, and Belize has positioned him as a key figure in marketing and selling properties to the Texas market.

His leadership extends to various roles in prominent real estate associations. Ed has served as a Director at the National Association of REALTORS®, the Texas REALTORS® Association, and other local associations. His dedication to global real estate markets is evident through his positions as a Global Ambassador for Central America and as a mentor in the SPIRE program at NAR. In 2023, his role expanded as the NAR Global Ambassador for Belize, Barbados, Trinidad, and Tobago, and he began his journey as a CIPS instructor. He is the current Austin Board of REALTORS® Global Ambassador to MetroTex Global acting as the liaison between the two programs.

Outside his professional sphere, Ed is a resident of Las Colinas, where his children, Edward III, Ashley, and Sydney, have pursued their academic and professional careers in Texas. His personal interests include spending time on beaches, playing golf at Las Colinas Country Club, and training his foster German Shorthair pointers. Ed's commitment to real estate, passion for teaching, and community involvement reflect a well-rounded and dynamic career dedicated to excellence in every facet of his life.

Her clientele boasts major Japanese corporations, including industry giants such as Daikin in HVAC and Kuraray in petrochemicals, as well as the Government of Japan itself.

She currently holds a position on the Board of Directors at the Houston Association of REALTORS, and her recent election to the executive board demonstrates the high regard in which she is held by her peers.

Brenda has showcased her expertise in marketing and sales throughout her career, and her unwavering commitment to the industry is palpable through her active involvement in various real estate committees at local, state, and national levels, including leadership roles.

At present, Brenda holds esteemed positions as the Texas Regional Vice President on the Board of Directors for the Greater Lewisville Association of REALTORS®, Texas REALTORS®, and NAR. She's been appointed as the 2023-2024 NAR Global Ambassador for México, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador and serving as the 2024 Texas Conference Committee Chair. Brenda's dedication to her profession is further underscored by her membership in the TREPAC Trustee alumni and her significant investment as a Major investor.
